Anniversary Sale at wine(accessorized)

I want to thank everyone who has supported us throughout our first year in existence. We went active in the middle of March last year and have been steadily picking up steam every month since. We’ve grown so much in just a year, and the reason is all of you. I humbly thank you for reading along, spreading the word, and making us your go-to site for wine accessories.

To show our appreciation, we’re offering 15% off all orders in the month of April. There are no restrictions. Simply use the discount code SILVER11 at checkout to cash in. Just pick a category in the left sidebar to get started shopping.

Again, thank you for the support, and I’m looking forward to seeing where we are this time next year!

The Movember Charity Prize Drive

By donating, this awesome accessory could be yours

Interested in a chance to win premium wine accessories while helping out a phenomenal cause? With the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes the beginning of Movember, a month-long mustache-filled extravaganza. We’re taking no-shave November and putting it to a great cause, the awareness and research of prostate cancer and men’s health.

To raise money for the cause, tens of thousands of men across the nation are giving their upper lips a hirsute workout. The Raleigh-Durham team has already raised over $13,000 a third of the way through November, but we can do better!

That’s where the prizes come in.

For every 5 dollars you donate to my Mospace page in the month of November, you get one entry into a drawing for one of over a dozen fantastic prizes!

Grand Prize: The Ravi Instant Wine Chiller (retail price of $50)

Second Prize: Porto Port Sipper Decanter Set (retail price of $40)

Third Prize: Oenophilia Stainless Steel Wine Chiller (retail price of $30)

Honorable Mention (three prizes): Oenophilia Oeno Pull (retail price of $30)

If you don’t win one of those, don’t worry.

There are plenty of consolation prizes in the works.

Plenty of fantastic prizes beyond the grand prize!

Nolita 4 Bottle Wine Rack (retail price of $30)

Menu Selection Aerating Pourer (retail price of $20)

Ostrich-Leather-Style 8 Ounce Flask (retail price of  $20)

Varietal Stopper Set: Bordeaux, Chardonnay, Merlot (retail price 0f $20)

Fusion 4 Compact Stemware Rack (retail price of $17)

Courtesan Wood & Pewter Wine Stopper Set (retail price of $15)

Of course, we’re not going to let a good deed go unrewarded. If all the prizes are given away, we’ve still got a gift set consisting of a tasting guide and a waiter’s corkscrew for anyone who donates and doesn’t luck out. Basically, if you contribute $5, you’re getting more back regardless of whether you win. If you contribute $10 or $20 or even more, you’re just getting more and more chances to win a top prize.

So donate now! Just visit my Mospace page and click “Donate to Me.” Make sure you leave a message with either your Twitter handle or your email address so that I can contact you for shipping information for your prize.

Thank you all,

What’s the Interest in Collegiate Woozies?

I was just told by our distributor that they would have the ability to order us collegiate Woozies. For those of you unfamiliar with Woozies, they are neoprene coozies designed to fit snugly over your wine glass, keeping your wine cold and your hand from getting cold, and protecting the glass from minor bumps:

Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon Woozie

For the local folks, they have North Carolina State University, Wake Forest University, Virginia Tech, and Appalachian State University licensed Woozies currently available.

For the rest of the country, they’ve also got Auburn, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Iowa State, and the U.S. Naval Academy licensed Woozies. They’re also currently in talks to approximately 25 other schools for licensing.

My question is, is this a product you’d like to see? We might also create tailgate bundles, pairing the items with corkscrews or other similarly colored items at a discount. Tweet me at @wineaccguy or leave a comment for your feedback here.

Thank you for your input!

Changing Careers (but Staying in Wine)

Hey guys,

So I know I’ve been rather absent from Twitter, Facebook, and the blog recently (at least by my standards). A good chunk of my job has taken me away from the computer during my work hours, limiting my ability to interact with everyone.

Well, that changes starting today.

I’m passing off my duties that kept me offline and taking on a new job as Account Manager at Oenophilia, our wine accessories distributor. I’ll still be running wine(accessorized), including maintaining the site and handling the social media (Twitter, Facebook, blog), but the simpler tasks that don’t require my attention will be delegated away. Instead, I’ll be focusing on building two companies.

You know me, I like a challenge.

Since I’ll be back in front of the computer, and since my hours will even out and not start quite so early or run so late, I’ll be able to interact more with you all again. I’ll be able to return to Raleigh more often, and I’ll be able to attend more events. You thought you were rid of me? Guess again!

What this means is whether you need wine accessories as a consumer or as a business, I’m now your man.

I want to thank Oenophilia for this opportunity. I’ve been a brand evangelist for them since I started learning about their products, and I’m proud to join the team to help spread the good word across the country. I’m also grateful that they’ll let me continue to work on the retail site, that they trust me to be able to manage both accounts.

Also, coincidentally or no, I’ll be moving to Chapel Hill today, to get closer to work and also closer to Raleigh. It feels good to move forward.

Thank you all for your support, and for putting up with me as I shook off the growing pains in social media. From here on out, it’ll be a much smoother ride.

wine(accessorized) Newsletter: July 2nd, 2010

Hi all,

I would like to thank everyone who came by our wine tasting this past month. Bottle and Bean supplied some fantastic wines, and Fragment Labs put together a great show. We’re very grateful to them for sponsoring the tasting and allowing us to demo some of our product as we poured the wines.

Hoping for a discount code? Aren’t we all? Relax, it’s at the bottom. Dig in and enjoy.

If you were interested in the products that we demoed at First Friday, I’ve provided a few handy links below:

Vinturi Red Wine Aerator – The Vinturi forces the wine through a narrow tube, creating a lower pressure area that sucks in air from tubes on the side and blends it with the wine. The result is that the wine instantly breathes, enhancing the bouquet, flavor, and mouthfeel.

Table Tendril Model Wine Rack, Copper – Both stand and wine rack have a rich copper finish, wrapping each bottle securely in a beautiful and sturdy holder. The rack is also designed to keep the bottles pointed downward, keeping the corks moist and the wine sealed.

Stiletto Cork Extractor – A levered corkscrew based on the cylindrical model, the Stiletto Cork Extractor makes opening wine even easier. It fits neatly over the neck of a bottle of wine and punctures and pulls cleanly, making sure the only real effort you have to make is actually buying the wine.

Stainless Steel Wine Chiller – The Oenophilia Stainless Steel Wine Chiller features 4 hard-plastic chill packs that conform to the shape of a wine bottle. An internal liner protects the bottle from excess condensation without insulating it from the chill packs.

Acrylic Wine Chiller – The Oenophilia Acrylic Chiller with Stainless Steel Rim is a no-freezing-required chilling option. It surrounds your bottle of wine with a double-walled, vacuum-sealed acrylic chamber, keeping the chill right where it should be: wrapped around your bottle.

Boomerang Corkscrew – The Boomerang, in addition to the standard bottle opener, boot, and worm, offers a retractable 4-wheel foil cutter, making stripping the foil off a bottle even easier.

I’m also happy to announce that several previously out-of-stock items have returned! Highlights include:

Wine Bottle Tumblers – Our Greenophile Wine Bottle Tumblers are the ultimate in eco-friendly glassware, made from authentic wine bottles that are 100% recycled glass. While the bottoms of the wine bottles went to these tumblers, which are incredibly stylish and fun to drink from, by the way, the top halves went to make Tealight Holders, which we also just happen to have in stock.

Mid-Century Wine Rack – (with a 10% discount!) – The Mid-Century Wall Wine Rack is both a work of art and a working wine rack. Crafted from thick, sturdy wrought iron, painted black, and mounted with only a few hidden screws, this rack hearkens back to the simplicity and functionality of the modernist architectural movement.

Bali Wine Rack – (with a 10% discount!) – Reminiscent of the peaceful oceanscape surrounding its namesake, the Bali Wine Rack pays homage to the rich Balinese tradition of woodcarving and art. Designed to mimic the gentle, rolling waves of a tropical beachfront, the shape of the rack also (coincidentally?), lends itself well to wine bottle storage.

Picnic Stake Set, Bottle and Two Stems – No table? No problem! With our steel Picnic Stake Set, taking wine on a picnic or to a lawn event doesn’t mean leaving behind your optimal stemware. Simply anchor them in the ground, and the stakes are ready to firmly hold your stemware. The set also comes with a bottle stake for keeping your wine bottle off of uneven ground.

Alexander 60 Bottle Wine Rack – The Alexander 60 Bottle Cellar Wine Rack is our largest storage solution. Essentially a standing wine rack, it anchors to the wall via four screw holes for added stability. Its unobtrusive, simple design ensures that the only focus on the rack will be on the wine itself.

Zanzibar Table w/ Tray – The Zanzibar Table is colored in rich hues reminiscent of the spices that earned the “Spice Islands” their nickname. The table also embodies versatility with a lower shelf, a two-tiered wine rack with space for 12 bottles, and a detachable table top that doubles as a serving tray.

Finally, as a thank you for your support during our company’s formative months, we’d like to offer you a special deal: up to and through July 5th, take 25% off your entire order No exclusions. Just use the promo code JULY25 at checkout to get your discount!

Again, thank you for all your support!
